Author Interview with Angelica Kate

Today on the blog we have author Angelica Kate. Her latest novel Parallel Lives released April 2, 2016.

Angelica Kate.png

To start things off, can you tell us a little bit about yourself and your background as an author?

I am a busy working mom that has always written in journals, letters and books. A couple years ago I had a friend that had written all her life also but was starting to explore getting her book of short stories published, a lifetime goal for her, but she died unexpectedly before doing so and became the catalyst for me not having a similar regret. Four months after her passing I published my first book Loving Abby with a dedication straight from her mouth. I started with several already completed works that I had in files, and then grew the collection from there as an indie author.

You have over 20 books listed on Amazon. What’s your secret to success? How do you stay motivated to write?

I absolutely love to write, and I find that every news story or personal blog I read gives me fodder for my writing. Many of my stories are about contemporary issues such as foster care, cancer, domestic violence and the like but told from the victim’s perspective. I love to tell a great coming back from the edge story of perseverance, love and redemption. Writing provides an escape for me from the daily grind of my 9 to 5 job as an Inventory Manager and so I write nearly every day in some form.

What’s next for you as a writer? What are you working on now?

I am working on a new novel length book, whereas many of my stories are novella short stories. This one is about a young girl that witnesses the murder of her mother and becomes a selective mute tuning out the world around her until she meets a woman that has experienced a similar loss. These two broken souls bring each other comfort and a kind of camaraderie neither found elsewhere, and in the process both get a new lease on life. Out of Solitude is the name of it, and I’m very excited to see that one come to fruition ad get feedback, once published, from the readers.

What inspired you to write the Aging Out series?

We were foster parents for a number of years back in Oklahoma and continue to remain involved in numerous charities supporting this vital service by so many of raising other people’s children. The stories of the children we took care of were heartbreaking and yet so many of them were finding ways to rise above their history and do great things like graduate high school, college, and giving back in the community. In our home town a community had been started of homes for foster families much like that depicted in the series to allow community, family and support to the fearless families that took in foster children and provided them a second chance. I wanted this story to be told, not just of the dark side of this broken system, but the of the children that rise above their lot in life and the families they build in the non-traditional manner that this system brings to bear upon them.

What is one thing you wish readers knew about you or your work?

I lived in a personal situation that was not ideal as a child, having a schizophrenic father that was abusive and many role models that were anything but for a child of growing up. I feel for the victim in every story, and want their stories, triumphs, loves and inspirations to come through in the stories I tell. I never want people to pick up the newspaper tomorrow and give more consideration to the monster being put forward, but consider the victim that will get up today and start over. If you know someone that needs a helping hand, be that for them and as a community we can change the world one tiny gesture at a time. That is what I hope they get from my stories is inspiration to get involved and look at everyone as the potential they hold not as the story that is told about them.

What’s the verdict – did your move to Sarasota increase your creativity? J

It definitely has increased the creativity by making such a drastic life change. You have to start over, build new relationships, find new places to worship, go to school, shop and meet new faces every day. For an author this is a smorgasbord of writing material and rips us out of the rut that life places us in when we do the same thing time and again. Besides going from the landlocked mid-west to this coast and so much water, politically, socially and in every way possible the viewpoints are different which causes you to look at things in a new perspective. I find my writing renewed and changed due to the move, and it was definitely a wonderful a catalyst for my writing.

What books are up next for you on your TBR list? Is there anything out now you can’t wait to read?

Wow, this list is expansive as I have over hundreds of waiting books on my Goodreads list of wanting to read. I love supporting indie authors and try to read books by individuals such as myself following their passion and maybe not popular by bestselling standards. I love paranormal, romance and inspirational style books and read about a book every other day or so making me a voracious reader.

Where can readers find out more about you or your books? On which sites are you most active?

I am always on Twitter, Facebook and Goodreads. I love reading as much as writing and am always posting reviews, feedback for other indie authors as well as trolling for my next great read. Additionally, I respond to every email and post directed to me for information which has helped me connect with other readings my books in ways I hadn’t expected.

Is there anything I haven’t asked you that you want to share with the Book Buddy readers?

NO this is a pretty exhaustive list. I appreciate this opportunity to share a little about my books and myself with your readers. Thank you!

Thank you so much for joining in on the Author Interview Series!!

Interview with Author J. Haney

Today on the blog we are featuring J. Haney, author of An Unexpected Love, which is available from Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Kobo, and more.

J. Haney.png

To start things off, can you tell us a little bit about yourself and your background as an author?

Haney: I was born and raised in Kentucky. I reside in Greenup County, Kentucky with my family. My debut novel, An Unexpected Love, released August 2015. I’m a single momma to my eight-year-old daughter, Jessalyn Kristine. I also take care and homeschool my autistic cousin, Aiden Sean, he’s nine years old. I love photography and seeing what I can capture through the lens! I just started plus size modeling and have been 5 or 6 pattern covers now. Both kids model as well, I suppose you can call us “One Big Modeling Family.” I’m probably the biggest book whore, I know. I love books of all genres and get excited when I’m introduced to a new author. I’m often told I act like a kid in the candy shop, which I could totally see!

A few fun facts about me:

  1. Jessalyn & Aiden have to be my two most favorite people in the world!
  2. I’m probably the biggest book whore there is!
  3. I love music of any kind, but better yet, I love singing!
  4. I hate cold/wet weather!
  5. I wear at least 4 different colors at once!
  6. I have the most awesome group of friends a gal can have. Jamie, Lisa, Chris, Patricia, Heather, April, Shannon, Teresa and last but certainly not least Annelle! Love you ladies!!
  7. I would love to one-day meet Alice Clayton, Christina Lauren, Kendall Ryan, Jamie McGuire, Addison Kine and so many others.
  8. I’m completely addicted to tattoos and piercings!
  9. I’m very random, and will say crazy stuff out of nowhere.
  10. I can tell you every word from beginning to end of Wallbanger by Alice Clayton and One Night Series by A.M. Willard.

Your Facebook page mentions An Unexpected Love has a new cover. Why did you decide to update it?

Haney: I had been thinking about updating it for a while. I was picked up by Booktrope last August and they were supposed to re-release An Unexpected Love. Once they said they were closing their doors I got with a couple friends of mine, S.I. Hayes and Ashley Byland, and together we came up with something so much more amazing. I have to say I love this cover so much I’m honestly doubting I will find one I like better.

You mention in your bio that you love photography. Did you use one of your photos for the new cover of An Unexpected Love?

Haney: I wish, but no. At least not for this one. I’m hoping to be able to use my own photography on some covers, soon! I mostly shoot friends and kids that are modeling for Proud Momma Designs which is the boutique I run with my mother.

An Unexpected Love has a very interesting storyline. How did you come up with this idea? What made you want to get this book down on paper?

Haney: Honestly I’ve always had stories in my head and one day I just finally opened word and started typing. 10,000 words later I had the first part of Caleb and Kyler’s story.

How is An Unexpected Love different from other romance novels? What makes it stand out?

Haney: Lord this is a hard one… I love romance novels but let’s be honest just about all of them are the same right? Kyler is a single mom to twins and has been on her own since she was 16. The girl has gone through hell and back in 10 years. Lord only knew when Caleb walked into her life he was never walking out. I think Caleb was in love with her from first sight. Kyler doesn’t need Caleb but was glad to finally have help. I hope that makes sense. Sorry for rambling.

Being an author can be tough work. What pushes you to keep writing?

Haney: I suppose it could be tough work but I do it because I love books and of course lets me get all these stories out of my head. LOL

Any plans for a second book? What are you working on now?

Haney: Actually there is a second book. It’s about Caleb’s brother Liam life. Liam is so much different them Caleb and my god is he crass! He has no filter and is absolutely driving me up the wall. I also working on couple other things but I am keeping them to myself for now.

What have you read lately that knocked your socks off? What’s coming up next on your TBR?

Haney: Unseen Messages by Pepper Winters was AMAZING!!! I’ve also been listening to Chelle Bliss’s Men of Inked Series and I have to say it’s pretty freaking awesome as well. As for my TBR whatever catches my eye. If someone has a recommendation shoot me a message!

Where can readers find out more about you or An Unexpected Love? On which sites are you most active?

Haney: I’m always on Facebook and trying to get into Twitter more than just Monday’s and Tuesday nights when I watch the voice. LOL! Readers can join my street team J’s Lovelies and every so often people make the move to my beta group.

Here’s my links just give me a stalk you never know when I may message you out of the blue with a surprise 😉

Author Interview Series with Connie Lafortune

Today on the blog we have author Connie Lafortune. Her latest book Bound by Steel released March 16, 2016.

Connie Lafortune.png

To start things off, can you tell us a little bit about yourself and your background as an author?

I was born and raised in a small town in Northeastern Connecticut where I began writing at the tender age of eleven. I’d spend hours jotting down all of my stories in black composition notebooks. Way back then, I never thought it was within my reach to become an author. I just did it because I loved it so much. Then several years ago, I decided to take a creative writing class. And that’s when it hit me like a ton of bricks. Writing was my passion and the only one stopping me from being an author, was me.

My first novel, Because of You was born because Hunter’s ‘voice’ was so loud, I just knew his story had to be told. But before I’d even finished, Logan boldly began revealing his compelling tale and The Claiming of Callan was created. Not long after, I had Ryker’s sexy commanding ‘voice’ guiding me throughout and Bound by Steel was conceived. So you see, with all of these gorgeous men competing for my attention I should have plenty of stories for many years to come…

23435338.jpg  Bound by Steel FOR WEB (1).jpg  CP_VB.JPG

You’ve published three books now. What have you learned along the way? What advice would you give someone just starting out?

That marketing your book is just as important as creating one. As Indie authors, we don’t have agents or publishing companies doing it for us. We are solely responsible for managing our ‘business.’ And with thousands of e-books being released on a daily basis, you better be prepared to stand out. In order to do that, you’ll need a captivating cover, a riveting blurb and bloggers who are willing to help you with cover reveals, book releases and blog tours. Without them, you’ll slowly slip into oblivion. They’re hard to find but once you do, their friendships are well worth the wait.

My only advice would be; write a good book, have it professionally edited and do your homework before publishing. Knowledge is key and once it’s out there, you can’t get it back.

The blurb for Bound by Steel is so engrossing! Where did you get the idea for the story?

Thanks Amy! The premise of the story came to me in a dream. I know, it’s an old cliché but it’s true. Then I started to give it some serious thought. What would happen if the protagonist rescued a woman who looked exactly like the one he was trying to forget? Would he let her leave? Or would he keep her for his own selfish reasons? After that, Bound by Steel took on a life of its own and the rest is history as they say.

What’s next for your writing career? What are you working on now?

Well, I’ve just recently announced the title of my fourth book which will be released in 2017. Stop the Rain was actually inspired by a young man who approached me to write his story. Exciting, right? Absolutely! Obviously, this is new to me since this is the first time a ‘character’ contacted me. So, I’ve been gathering every little detail and tidbit of information that he’s willing to reveal so I can do him justice. I’m honored that he’s willing to put his trust in me to tell his story and I’m forever grateful for the opportunity. He’s a very brave and charismatic young man who’s had a rough start in life. Which is why he’s willing to come forward. He knows there are many of you out there who will see yourself through his eyes. ‘Noel’ feels if he can save just one of you, then his journey will not have been in vain.

What inspires you as a writer? From where do you draw your motivation?

Inspiration is all around me. All I need to do is keep my eyes wide-open and observe my surroundings. Everyone that I come in contact with on a daily basis has their own hidden story. It’s just up to me to put their thoughts and feelings down on a piece of paper, for all of you to read and enjoy.  When you’re passionate about writing, all you need is your imagination to take you wherever you want to go. Then the sky’s the limit!

My motivation is—hands down—my characters. Through them, I can fabricate an intricate tale of deceit, intrigue and passion. Or a story based on love, loss and holding on to family secrets. I simply let their ‘voice’ guide my fingers while I’m documenting their journey. Never knowing where it’s going to take me.

What is one thing you wish readers knew about you or your work?

This one’s easy. I’d like all of them to know that music plays an important role in my life. Especially, since I was surrounded by a family of musicians. Mom played the piano, Dad played the guitar and my brother played the drums. I on the other hand, couldn’t play an instrument if my life depended on it, so I would sing and dance. Hence, the reason I’m a writer because unfortunately I can’t hold a tune. I love to listen to music while I’m writing. It’s the perfect way to set the mood and the tone of a story. I wanted to include a playlist at the end of my first two novels but time wouldn’t allow. So instead, I’ve added the playlists to my website. Fortunately, I learned from my mistakes and I was able to add a playlist to Bound by Steel.

You mention in your bio loving to curl up with a good book. What have you read lately that really stood out? Are there any books you are looking forward to reading next?

Wow, that’s a tough one since I haven’t been reading as much as I’d like to. In fact, I have five pages on my Kindle right now that need my undivided attention. But if I had to choose one, I’d have to say the Sun and the Moon by Leslie McAdam. It’s brilliant! If you haven’t read it, do yourself a favor and pick up a copy.

I’m chomping at the bit to read, Je Suis a Toi by Pepper Winters. The fourth and final book in the Monsters in the Dark series. I love, love, love Tess and Q and I can’t wait to find out if they’ve found their HEA.

Bound By Steel Teaser 5 - Hot.png

Where can readers find out more about you or your books? On which sites are you most active?

They can go to my website www.connielafortune.com and read excerpts and teasers from all three of my books. Some of them are quite ‘steamy’ so it’s not for the faint of heart. They can also subscribe to my newsletter, so they’ll get the latest news and announcements. I’d love for them to follow me on Twitter www.twitter.com/connielafortune, where I spend way too much time! Or they can stalk me on Facebook www.facebook.com/Connie-Lafortune and like my page while they’re visiting.

Any parting words for our readers?

To never give up on their dreams! I am living proof that you are never too old to pursue what you’re passionate about. And when you do, life takes on a whole new meaning.

Thanks so much for inviting me to be a part of the Author Interview Series, Amy. I had a ball!

Interview with author Gen Ryan

Today on the blog we are featuring Gen Ryan, author of Beautiful Masterpiece, book one in the Thin Red Lines seriesIf you are in Connecticut, stop by her book signing TODAY!!

Gen Ryan.png

To start things off, can you tell us a little bit about yourself and your background as an author?

Well, I am a mother to a wonderful 9 year-old -girl. I’ve been married to my high school sweet heart for 10 years this April. I have my Masters Degree in Forensic Psychology and Legal Studies and work FT as a College Professor. I am also working on my Dissertation for my PhD. As you can see, I love to keep busy!

As an author, this all happened by accident. I started writing my first novel during my classes for my PhD. I needed an outlet and always loved writing, so took my idea and ran with it. I let a friend read it and she loved it and pushed me to share it. So, I self-published Beautiful Masterpiece for less than a month before I was offered a few contracts for the series. I decided to go with Hot Tree Publishing because the ladies are awesome and I felt we would work well together. It has been one of my best decisions to date. I couldn’t have asked for a better support in everyone there and continued encouragement.

You have a book signing event today June 4, 2016 in Mashantucket, CT. Congratulations! How did you get involved in this event? Can you tell us any more about it?

I saw that is was a local signing (only about an hour and some change from me) and decided to see if they wanted me 🙂 I’m super excited to be going and getting the word out about the Thin Red Lines Series and other projects I’m working on.

You mention on your blog you teach psychology by day. How do you balance your writing career, your academic career, and your home life? Do you have any tips for readers who may find themselves in a similar position?

It’s tough. I’m not going to lie. My daughter is a little older so that helps and she is super supportive. So is my husband. He won’t read my stuff but he is encouraging (haha). I also have a wonderful mother who helps me out when I need a breather to just to write, study or grade papers. I seriously couldn’t do it all without her.

Another thing is I get plenty of sleep. I know that seems crazy with my schedule but I don’t often stay up late. I find I work best in the early am so I go to bed at a decent time and wake up earlier when the rest of my house is asleep.

What’s next for your writing career? What are you working on now?

I want to write everything. LOL. Seriously, I initially thought this was a passing hobby but as I get deeper into the dynamics of writing, learn my craft, it has become my passion and I’d love to write full time and teach only a class or two on the side.

I am currently editing the second book in the Thin Red Lines Series, Beautiful Sacrifice. It is Avery’s story. I am also writing two novels at the same time. Skin Deep, which is set in the 1950’s and deals with racism and As I am, a more contemporary romance. All of my stories have romance but deal with real issues, usually psychological in nature. I also have another project but I can’t say anything yet. Pretty much I’m a writing machine!

What will you do differently when publishing your next book? What worked well the first time?

I’m giving myself more time. The first time I was so excited I worked on the edits immediately and didn’t give myself a break. It was exhausting. This time, I got a time line from the editor and am allowing myself that time. It helps my creative juices flow and me to balance everyday life.

You mention in your bio loving to read paranormal romance and romantic thrillers. Any favorites you’d like to share with us?

I do love paranormal romances and books with lots of angst. I’m a sucker for a broken soul and bad boys. I guess it’s the psychologist in me, I want to fix everyone. I loved the Sookie Stackhouse series (I mean hello? Who doesn’t love werewolves and vampires?) I also love Colleen Hoover. She is actually one of the only signed authors I have on my book shelf!

Where can readers find out more about you or your work? On which sites are you most active?

I am most active on Twitter and Facebook! I post as often as I can.

Are there any questions I haven’t asked you yet that you’d like to share with the Book Buddy readers?

You asked some excellent questions. J But I have to give a shot out to my dog Chewbacca. I post pictures of him a lot because he follows me around and is my writing buddy.

Aww!!! Thank you so much for joining in on the Author Interview Series!!

Thanks for having me! xo

Interview with J.C. Hannigan

Today on the blog we are featuring author J.C. Hannigan. Her latest book, Rebel Soul, releases today — June 1st!! Happy release day!!

J.C. Hannigan.png

To start things off, can you tell us a little bit about yourself and your background as an author?

I’ll be twenty-seven on June 15th, and I’m married with two boys (ages seven and four). I’ve always loved reading and always wanted to write my own stories. I started writing short stories when I was thirteen; they were mostly about best friends and horses. I used to draw up little “title pages” too.

When I was sixteen, I started writing a novel about a teenage girl who lived with the same chronic pain bone disorder I have (Multiple Hereditary Exostoses). I wrote about her struggles with her body image and fitting in with her peers, and my dad read it. He told me that I could be a writer, and that he wanted me to finish it.

I never did finish that particular book (although I might one day), but the ideas for stories kept coming. My friend, Elizabeth Barone, knew that I wanted to be an author and she kept pressuring me to participate in NaNoWriMo, so I did. I penned COLLIDE during NaNoWriMo in 2013. I later published it independently in July of 2014.  I wrote the second book, CONSUMED, and published it in December of 2014, then I actually got signed with Booktrope Publishing. I wrote DAMAGED GOODS and RECKLESS ABANDON and released them both through Booktrope. Now that Booktrope has closed its doors, I’m re-releasing all of my books independently again on June 1st and I couldn’t be more excited!

cover2.jpg    cover.jpg   cover3.jpg   cover4.jpg

You now have six books listed on Amazon. Congratulations! As your list of publications has increased, how do you push yourself to stay motivated to write?

I’m still trying to find the balance, to be honest! It’s easy to write when you don’t have looming release dates pressing down on your shoulders. I’ve been promoting REBEL SOUL and getting ready to re-publish all of my books independently again, so I haven’t accomplished a whole lot in the writing department but once June 1st passes, I’ll be hitting my current work in progress hard.

Has any aspect of writing gotten easier over time? Has any part become more challenging?

Fantastic question! And the answer is a bit complicated. Writing has both gotten easier and become more challenging over time. It really depends on the story I’m writing. Writer’s block is still vicious and can strike at almost any time – but the flow of words seems to come out easier now that I’m no longer terrified of writing sexy scenes. Plus you learn what editors and proofreaders look for and avoid making those mistakes in the first place, so I think I annoy them a little less now. 😉

Rebel Soul is book one in the Rebel Series. How many books can readers expect in this series? Will they be standalone novels or continue the storyline?

I have two more Rebel Series books outlined. I’m working on the second one right now – Rebel Heart. Rebel Heart is Braden and Elle’s story – you’ll meet them in Rebel Soul. Braden is Brock’s younger brother and Elle is Tessa’s best friend. Technically, Brock and Tessa hook up because of them.

Rebel Song will feature Becky Miller – Brock and Braden’s sister – and another fella from the Rebel Series. You won’t particularly have to read them in order, as everything is mostly explained. You may encounter certain spoilers but I don’t think it would take away from reading the other books.

What is different about your writing style from that of other authors? What makes it stand out?

I let the characters drive me. I am an empath and therefore find it easy to fall into the emotions my characters are experiencing, and I feel that it really comes across on the page.

rebel soul_teaser.png

You mention in your bio that your work brings to light awareness of mental health and social challenges. What inspired you to take this on?

I’ve always struggled with depression and anxiety, and a lot of people I love deal with mental health struggles every day. It’s commonplace, and yet it’s not really predominate in works of literature. I think that if we’re going to one day break the stigma, we need to talk about it in all forms.

What have you read lately that really knocked your socks off? What’s coming up next on your TBR list?

Shameless by Lex Martin knocked my socks off, and I’m reading Wasted Words by Staci Hart – it’s also knocking my socks off. Next on my TBR list is Panty Whisperer by Sloane Howell.

Where can readers find out more about you or your work? On which sites are you most active?

Readers can find out more about my work by going to my author website; http://jchannigan.com

I’m most active on basically *every* social media site. I have an addiction to Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

Kicking off the Author Interview Series with Shana Vanterpool

Shana Vanterpool (2).png

Today we’re kicking off the Author Interview Series with the lovely Shana Vanterpool! Her latest book Damage Me releases July 5, 2016!

Damage Me.jpg

To start things off, can you tell us a little bit about yourself and your background as an author?

First off, thank you for having me! I’ve always had a love affair with reading. It’s taken me away when I needed it, and writing books that do the same is what motivates me.

When Damage Me releases it will be your fourth published book. Does the writing process get any easier? How do you stay motivated?

The pressure mounts with each novel I write. I want to get better with each story and bring something new to each book. If I feel myself falling off of schedule, or something has me down, I think of the characters I’ve already written, the stories I’ve already told, and how much I have left.

What’s next for you after Damage Me releases? Can we expect any more books in the Crystal Gulf series?

Ruin Me will be book 3 in the Crystal Gulf series, but its publication is pretty far off. It will feature the two side characters in book 1 and 2, Jona and Justine. I will be self-publishing a novel called Under The Peaches, in January 2017! It is a contemporary romance in the Teaching Love Series, with touches of forbidden love and an emotional journey to self-love.

The storyline for Damage Me sounds pretty intense. What inspired you to write the book?

Damage Me was always going to come after it’s stand-alone predecessor, but I had no idea what I was taking on until it was time to write Dylan and Hillary’s story. It was emotionally consuming, heartbreaking, painful, beautiful, moving, tear-worthy, and a stunning novel for me to write. I didn’t realize the journey I was taking my characters on until it was time to heal them and let them go.

What advice would you give to authors who are just starting out?

Write what makes you happy, whatever that may be. Never write for others. Write for yourself.

What is one thing you wish readers knew about you or your work?

How much I care. Writing is my air, my heart, and every word I write means so much to me. So when they love it, when they get it, I feel like everything I’m doing, have done, or will do, will be better because of it.

You mention loving book boyfriends (don’t we all!!) – who is at the top of your list?

Other than my own men? Hmm … Christian Grey, Edward Cullen, Four, Beau Vincent … I could go on forever!

Where can readers find out more about you or your books? On which sites are you most active?

Brilliant Disguise

Detective Charlie McClung no longer finds his job fulfilling and has given up finding that “someone” his granny promised he would find. So he leaves behind the big city and his close-knit family and takes a job in a small town police department in Georgia, resigned to live a quiet life in solitude.

Things change when he meets Marian Selby while investigating the mysterious death of her best friend. But Marian swore never to love again after the death of her husband 11 years ago. What seems to be a suicide turns into a tangled web of deceit, corruption, and complicated shadows.

Can the two of them come to grips with their feelings for each other before the killer closes in on them?

A Good Girl

For Charlie McClung, going home to Virginia with Marian was supposed to be a joyous occasion, but upon arrival at his childhood home, he’s met with a note instead of his family.

“Don’t worry, Love, we’re all okay. Come to the shop. A dead girl was found in an armoire delivered just now. Huggies, Ma”

Charlie is quickly recruited to help solve the murder of a young girl who was on the path to becoming a nun. The suspects begin to mount as Charlie delves deep into the girl’s life, revealing a sordid and ugly side of the town’s good girl.

Criminal Kind

It’s the perfect setting for a romantic getaway at sea: Caribbean breezes, clear blue skies, passionate nights, and murder? Not exactly what Detective Charlie McClung and Marian had in mind for their honeymoon. When one of their fellow passengers is murdered on her 35th wedding anniversary, Charlie and Marian get pulled into the investigation. Who would want to kill poor Tammy Ferguson in such a brutal way? As Charlie uncovers more sordid details about Tammy and her husband, Peter, it becomes clear that someone else has found the same skeletons in the Ferguson’s closet and Tammy has paid the price. Is Peter next?

Trapped on the ship with an insidious killer, shadows seem more ominous and even the most innocent faces seem sinister. Has Charlie inadvertently put Marian in harm’s way? How long does Charlie have before the hunter becomes the hunted?
